Operating from his charming studio in Sydney’s Inner West, Julio Valdes holds an esteemed reputation in the industry for his exceptional leather craftsmanship. At a time when artisanal skills are becoming increasingly rare, Julio’s expertise is both special and invaluable.

Born and raised in Chile, Julio acquired his skills working alongside his family in their footwear manufacturing business, while also receiving formal training as a tailor at the Escuela Nacional de Sastrería (National Tailoring School). Juliana met Julio during her final years studying at the University of Technology Sydney, and due to lockdown, spent the better half of her year at his studio. During this time they formed the connection that would, several years later, inspire the conception of Juliana Lilly.

Their collaboration blends Julio’s mastery of traditional tailoring and leatherwork with Juliana’s innovative design vision, resulting in exquisite bespoke pieces that embody wearable art. The dynamic interplay between Julio’s craftsmanship and Juliana’s creativity is at the heart of the Juliana Lilly brand.
